Carapa megistocarpa is a species of plant in the Meliaceae family. It is endemic to Ecuador. It's trade name is Tangare or Tangara. It is listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. It is considered Endangered due to the high deforestation rates throughout its habitat during the last 50 years. The species is attractive to loggers and so is directly threatened by timber extraction.[1]
