Canarium zeylanicum is a species of flowering plant in the frankincense family, Burseraceae, that is endemic to Sri Lanka.[2]
Leaves
pinnate, rachis woody, brown; leaflets paired with terminal, broadly oblong-oval, subcordate base, shortly acuminate apex, margins entire.
Trunk
Bark - smooth, pale, thin; W- white, soft, light; resinous and aromatic; young branchlets fulvous pubescent.
Flowers
pale greenish yellow, on short pedicels; I- narrow, terminal, rufous-tomentose panicles.
Fruits
brownish, ovoid, faintly trigonous, drupe.
Site
rain forest canopy.
Uses
Wood - light construction; Bark - medicinal; resin- incense; seeds- edible.
Culture
Known as කැකුන (kekuna) in Sinhala.
