Canadian Association of Independent Schools

Canadian Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) is an association for independent schools that operate within Canada or offer a curriculum leading to a Canadian diploma in a location outside of the country. Member schools are non-profit institutions with volunteer Boards of Governors who are responsible for hiring a Head to manage the daily operation of the school. To qualify for membership, schools must offer an academic program that will prepare students for entrance to institutions of higher education.

In October 2009, CAIS and the Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI) formed a new national organization, SEAL Canada (Standards in Excellence And Learning in Canada).
