Campbelltown Eagles are an Australian semi-professional rugby league team. They currently play in the combined Group 6 Rugby League-Western Suburbs District Rugby League A-grade tournament jointly run by the CRL and NSWRL. The team previously competed in the Bundaberg Red Cup. One of their players is the Portuguese international Ivan Pacho.
History
The Campbelltown Eagles was established in 1961 as East Campbelltown. The team was a part of Group 6 Rugby League until the end of 1983 when all Campbelltown sides were required to form the Newtown-Campbelltown League, then the Western Suburbs District League. 2001 was an important year for the Eagles, winning the Minor Premiership, Premiership, Senior Club Champions and Overall Club Champions.[1]
In 2008, the Eagles gained acceptance into the NSWRL Jim Beam Cup. However, the move wouldn't prove fruitful for the club and they left the competition at the end of 2010. The Eagles then would re-join the combined Group 6-Westerns Suburbs District A-grade competition from the start of the 2011 season.
Team emblem and homeground
East Campbelltown's logo is that of a red and white eagle inside a ring with the words "Campbelltown Eagles R.L.F.C" written on it. This logo is similar to that of NSWRL side, Manly Sea Eagles, with the colours changed to suit the club. The colours of the Eagles' jerseys are also red and white like their emblem.
