Campbells Creek is a town in Victoria, Australia. The town sits on the southern outskirts of Castlemaine on the Midland Highway. The town derives its name from a tributary of the Loddon, Campbells Creek, which flows through the township. At the 2006 Census, Campbells Creek had a population of 1,266.[1]
Campbells Creek was founded during the gold rush of the 1850s and the Post Office opened on 16 April 1858.[2]
The town has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League. The highest ever score in a senior game of Australian Rules football was scored by Campbells Creek, 100.34.634, defeating Primrose, 3.0.18, in a game in 1990.[3]
