Camp Cariboo

Camp Cariboo is a Canadian children's television program that aired on several CTV stations from 1986 to 1989, lasting for a total of five seasons. The show is best known for its rerun stint on YTV from 1989 to 1996.

Camp Cariboo was produced by CKCO-TV, out of Kitchener, Ontario, and filmed in part on location in Ontario Camping Association camps. The program was hosted by Tom Knowlton and Mark Baldwin. Each show consisted of a variety of short skits, riddles, songs and stories, all portrayed in the setting of a fictional summer camp attended by young campers.

Main characters

Tom and Mark were the main characters of the show. Starting with their appearance in the theme song singing what is known as the "Camp Cariboo Song", Tom and Mark were the driving force behind most of the skits and songs. Most episodes would feature the two doing fun or interactive songs and sketches with the children appearing on the show, and would usually appear for the closing sketch. Tom and Mark had alter-egos, "The Keeners". The Keeners story was that they were so keen to come back to the camp each year that Tom and Mark gave them their moniker. The Keeners appeared the majority of the time in sketches involving teaching or informing of camping information, camp secrets, and was generally told in the form of a string of one liner jokes. The voice of experience in the show was that of Old Uncle Wes in a segment called "Woodsy Wisdom". Wes would usually make appearances around the camp fire telling old stories and offering camping advice. Uncle Wes was played by Tom.
