Camille Henrot (born 1978) is a French artist who lives and works in New York. Henrot works in many formats, including digital media, video installation, and sculpture. Her work explores human bodies, information media, and layers of meaning.
Works
Grosse Fatigue
"Grosse Fatigue" is a 13 minute color video that includes videos of screens, bodies, computer desktop, and computer windows. Henrot created Grosse Fatigue during her 2013 fellowship at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.[1] The video makes use of themes such as insanity, madness, euphoria, and information overload.[2]
Exhibitions
Henrot was the subject of a retrospective at the New Museum in 2014.[3]
Honours and awards
Henrot won the Silver Lion Award at the Venice Biennale in 2013 for Grosse Fatigue.[4]
In 2014, she was a finalist for the Hugo Boss Prize.[5]
Henrot also won the 2014 Nam June Paik Award.[6]
