DECA Roger Schultz Winter An international association of high school students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, law, and marketing sales and service. The DECA Chapter at CIHS is a Nationally recognized activity that has experienced huge success at the Region, State and International levels. The annual DECA Food Can Drive brings in thousands of pounds of food for the needy each year at the holiday season.
American football Mike Hennen Fall Until 2007, held the record for all-time victories in Minnesota. State Champions in 1986, 1987, and 2000.

Model United Nations Mr. Woodbury Fall-Spring A nationally recognized policy group that researches, and advocates policy while representing selected countries around the world. This group has won national awards for seven straight years at the University of Chicago Model United Nations Conference, the University of Michigan Model United Nations Conference, the Twin Cities Model United Nations Conference, and the Northwestern University Model United Nations Conference. The group has produced nationally recognized delegates such as Ben Williams,and Ethan Yerigan who won the outstanding delegate awards in the University of Chicago conference and University of Michigan conference. Delegates have gone on to lead programs at the University of Chicago and Lake Forest University.

Speech Kelly Fahrni Winter Speech is a public speaking and/or oral interpretation activity with 13 different competition categories. Sign up is early November with invitationals in February and March. Competitions for both teams and individuals continue from the end of March to mid-April.
Swimming (Boys) Gary Gotz Winter Back to back conference champions in both the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 seasons. Some of the best swimmers in the school's history include: Matt Peters, Aaron Marshall, Jake Berry, Mark Schornstein, and Chris Solomonson.

Wrestling Neil Jennissen Winter 2008 Mississippi 8 Conference Champions, 12 time Section Champions, Alum Luke Becker once held the record for all-time victories with a wrestling record of 210 wins, and went on to win an NCAA Division I National Title at the University of Minnesota. In addition to Becker, the Bluejackets have produced 5 state champions, including starting University of Minnesota heavyweight Tony Nelson.
