The Calville Blanc d'hiver (Calville's white winter) is an apple cultivar. It originated in France in the 17th century from a chance seedling.^[1]

Those old apple varieties that carry the name "Calville" are very popular in Germany and noted for unusual looks (somewhat lumpy on the side), but Calville Blanc d'hiver is excellent rewarding when tried, and have an unusually high vitamin C content. It is the apple of choice for Tarte Tatin in France.
