Cairook was a Mohave leader born sometime before 1814.[1] In 1858, he and the Mohave attacked the Rose-Baley Party, which led to his incarceration by the United States Department of War in May 1859. On June 21, Cairook was killed while trying to escape.[2]
According to Fulsom Charles Scrivner, author of Mohave People (1970), Cairook was born to an influential family, and grew to a height of nearly 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm).[3]
