Cain Southernwood (5 April 1992) is a professional rugby league footballer who plays for Bradford, and has previously played for Wakefield Trinity, playing at Stand-off, or Scrum-half.

Signed from Castleford amateur side Smawthorne ARLFC.

A member of the Trinity Grand Final winning Academy team in 2009, he has been selected for the England Academy squad from which the side to face France and Australia will be selected.

Bradford

Cain Southernwood signed for Bradford mid-2010 from Wakefield Trinity on a 3-year deal. Statistic do NOT include pre-season friendlies.


2010 - 2010 Season

Southerwood made his début against Warrington due to an injury to Matt Orford. He featured in the following game against Castleford, but then wasn't selected for the remainder of the season.


2011 - 2011 Season

Southernwood featured in three of the four pre-season games. He played against Halifax, Dewsbury and Keighley. Cain scored a try against Keighley.

Southernwood was not selected to play in any league or cup matches this season.


2012 - 2012 Season

Southernwood has been sent on a season long loan to Championship side Dewsbury.


Whitehaven

2013

Southernwood has signed for Whitehaven for the 2013 Championship season. He scored a try against Keighley Cougars. He kicked 3 goals against Workington Town and kicked 5 against Sheffield Eagles. In the Challenge Cup he scored a try and kicked 5 goals against London Skolars. Southernwood also scored in the Northern Rail Cup against London Skolars. Cain kicked 3 goals against Hunslet Hawks. He scored 2 tries and kicked 3 goals against Sheffield Eagles and also kicked 3 goals against Leigh Centurions. He scored a try against Keighley Cougars, Leigh Centurions and Swinton Lions.

2014

Southernwood kicked 3 goals against Keighley Cougars. He then kicked 3 goals and a drop goal in the win against Dewsbury Rams. In the Challenge Cup he scored a try and kicked 4 goals against York City Knights. Cain kicked a goal in the loss to Halifax RLFC. He kicked 4 goals against Barrow RLFC. He scored a try and kicked 2 goals against Barrow RLFC. He kicked 3 goals against Workington. Cain kicked 5 goals against Batley Bulldogs. Cain Southernwood is the son of the Castleford Hooker of the 1980s and '90s, Graham Southernwood, and the nephew of the Castleford, Halifax and Wakefield Trinity rugby league footballer, Roy Southernwood.
