CNM Estates

CNM Estates is a property development company based in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in South London. Its core developments are within the Royal Borough with a few outside the borough including the London Borough of Sutton, and Weston Super Mare.

It has property interests in Kingston, Surbiton, Sutton, Norbiton and Weston Super Mare.

History

The company was established in February 2004, and is chaired by Wahid Samady following a career at IBM.

CNM Estates have also developed The Tablet - an internet enabled device that acts as a home concierge service which allows the resident to order services such as home food delivery, cleaning services and engage with the community.

During the property boom in 2007 it was reported that their 'Super-yuppie flats sold at £1m an hour.' [1] It appears the company slowed down but survived the property downturn in the UK when a number of projects ground to a halt in 2009.[2]

An announcement in December 2011 stated that the company had signed a deal with large UK house builder Taylor Wimpey which would enable works to start on the Surbiton Plaza Phase II Victoria Road site in early 2012 [3] CNM Estates announced an agreement with national house-builder Linden Homes, part of Galliford Try Plc and Investec, a property investment company, to complete the works on the site of the former Red Lion pub in Tolworth, south-west London.[4]

A current major project in development is Sutton Point, near the rail station in Sutton. The new development will be for mixed use and include a hotel, a health club, apartments, shops, restaurants and offices.[5] The scheme will also include a car club to reduce the need for individual car ownership.[6] The scheme was granted planning approval in mid-2013, and work on-site started in Spring 2014.[7]

Corporate Sponsorship

In 2008 the company sponsored Kingston Rose Theatre's Christmas Tale.[8]

Kingston Regatta has announced that CNM Estates will continue as Main Sponsor of the Kingston Regatta for the fourth year on 7 and 8 July 2012.[9] The regatta has been held annually since 1857 and has more races than the Henley Regatta with boats leaving the starting line every 3 minutes.

Weston super Mare

The Weston Mercury reported that the 'Green-light given for ‘Italian Riviera’ scheme' in April 2011 for the landmark Birnbeck Peninsula Scheme on the site of Royal Pier Hotel.[10] It was also reported in the Weston Mercury that the Birnbeck Pier sold for ‘substantial’ amount to CNM Estates Chairman Wahid Samady and Entrepreneur Michael Ross.[11]

A joint task force could be set up to support the new owners of Birnbeck Pier in turning their vision for the historic site into a reality.[12] Ecology and marine life surveys are being carried out at a Weston landmark in preparation for a grand rebuild.[13] A group has vowed to protect a popular Weston garden from future development by applying for it to be granted town green status. The Friends of Prince Consort Gardens says it wants North Somerset Council to grant the gardens, which overlook Birnbeck Pier, the status due to concerns that it might be ‘subsumed’ by future development.[14] John Penrose MP for Weston-super-Mare and Minister for Tourism and Heritage suggests Freedom of Weston should be given to Mr Samady if he is successful in his plans for the Birnbeck Pier.[15]
