The CMLL 79th Anniversary Show was a professional wrestling event produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) that took place on September 14, 2012 in CMLL's home arena Arena México in Mexico City, Mexico.[1] The event commemorated the 79th anniversary of CMLL, the oldest professional wrestling promotion in the world.[2] The event featured two Luchas de Apuestas, which resulted in Rey Cometa losing his mask and El Terrible his hair.[1]
Background
The event featured six professional wrestling matches with different wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines. Wrestlers portray either villains (referred to as "rudos" in Mexico) or fan favorites ("técnicos" in Mexico) as they follow a series of tension-building events, which culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
