CFSL (1190 AM, "AM 1190") is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Weyburn, Saskatchewan, it serves southeastern Saskatchewan. It first began broadcasting in 1957 at 1340 kHz before moving to its current dial position in 1991. The station is currently owned by Golden West Broadcasting. It shares studios with CKRC-FM at 305 Souris Avenue.

The station broadcasts hockey games involving the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

History

CFSL signed on in 1957 under the ownership of Soo Line Broadcasting Ltd., serving both Weyburn and Estevan (until the launch of its sister station CJSL in Estevan in 1961). Starting on 1340 kHz, it moved to its current frequency at 1190 kHz around 1991.

Soo Line Broadcasting, and both CJSL and CFSL would be acquired by Golden West Broadcasting in 1995. In 2006, CFSL would gain a sister FM station, CKRC-FM

Programming

CFSL currently broadcasts a full service country music format. CFSL also carries radio coverage of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Weyburn Red Wings, and airs Toronto Blue Jays baseball games syndicated by the Sportsnet Radio network.
