CEITON is a web-based proprietary software system for managing and scheduling business processes such as DVD authoring[3] using workflow technologies. It is used by media companies including MDR,[4] A+E Networks, Sony DADC and Warner.[5]

History

Expertplace Solutions, the company that produces the CEITON system, was founded in Leipzig, Germany in 2000 by entrepreneur, Tobias Soppa, and the product was originally developed for German broadcasting companies in 2001. The name 'CEITON' comes from the concept of Seiton, one of the principles of the Japanese workplace methodology known as 5S.[6]

Technology

The workflow management product has three tier architecture with database back-end based on Oracle or Microsoft SQL, contains a workflow engine and utilizes a patented [7] web-based window manager, WinLike.[8][9]

Features

Media companies use the Ceiton workflow system for managing repetitive projects such as producing DVDs, PlayStation games and Blu-ray discs.[5][10] The software also features a drag-and-drop Gantt chart to facilitate resource scheduling, by means of which it can also be used as employee scheduling software.[11]

The Ceiton system can be integrated with external systems such as SAP or other ERP systems, using SOAP and similar technologies.[4] [12] It also features a 3-D workflow overview in which the status of each project step can be determined by its color in the overview.[3]
