Byron Magnus Faust Lloyd Davies (born September 4 1958) is a Conservative Party politician and was elected as a South Wales West regional Assembly Member in the National Assembly for Wales at the May 2011 election.[1]
Background
Davies’ was a police officer in London before his selection as a Welsh Conservative Assembly candidate. In a scandal he was told by the Assembly’s Presiding Officer Dame Rosemary Butler that she expected all AMs who have been elected to serve on committees to attend and take “full part” in the committee’s business and should treat the committees “with respect” Mr Davies was refusing to attend in an fit of pique.[2] While in the police he attained senior rank as a detective in the Metropolitan Police Service.[3] Unable to participate whilst a serving officer he resumed his political activities upon retirement when he stood as the loosing Conservative Candidate for Gower in the 2007 Welsh Assembly Elections, recording a record 10.8% swing to the Conservatives, yet despite a terribly unpopular Labour Party in 2010 he still could not convince enough people to elect him to represent them on Gower.
