Burma(Myanmar) and Taiwan Relations is about international relations between Taiwan and Myanmar. Taiwan and Myanmar relations are unofficial.

History

Orphan Troop in Thailand and Myanmar[1]

In 1949 China Civil War, the failure KMT troop got away in to the northern part of Thailand and Myanmar. By the instigation from PRC, Myanmar accused ROC invaded Myanmar in United Nations. After many times of negotiation, the orphan troop in Myanmar were moved to Northern Thailand. In the civil war in Thailand, the KMT orphan troop helped Thailand to avoid communization, so the king of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej gave those special amnesty for entitlement in Thailand, and some of them chose moving to Taiwan.

Myanmar agreed the replacement in UN-2758

After June 8, 1950, Myanmar recognized People's Republic of China then unrecognized with Taiwan.[2] In United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 Myanmar supported the replacement from Taiwan to PRC.

Diplomatic representation

There are no representative missions between Taiwan and Myanmar. Affairs with Taiwanese should be settle by Taiwan's represent mission in Bangkok.[3]

In nowadays, by the Visa policy of Myanmar, Taiwan citizens who with Taiwanese Passport can be issuing in electronic visas. But by the Visa policy of Taiwan, Myanmar citizens should obtain visas in Bangkok.

Agriculture

Taiwan Known-You Seed Corporation established in 1968, and dropped into Myanmar market in 1994. In 1996, it started cooperation with Ministry of Agriculture & Irrigation which founded agricultural school in Irrawaddy. The most successful product is watermelon. [4]

Transportation

China Airlines offers flights from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Yangon International Airport.[5]
