The Bunyamwera virus is a Negative-sense single stranded envelope RNA virus. It is the type species of the Orthobunyavirus genus, it is in the Bunyaviridae family.
The Bunyamwera virus can infect both humans and Aedes aegypti (the Yellowfever mosquito).[1]
It is named for Bunyamwera, a town in Western Uganda where the type species was isolated.
