The Building and Engineering Services Association (B&ES), formerly the Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association, founded in 1904, is the main UK trade association for companies that design, install, commission and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVACR) and related engineering projects.
History
Established in 1904, the HVCA changed its name to the Building and Engineering Services Association on 1 March 2012.
Function
In 2010, it represented over 1400 companies throughout the UK.
Activities
The B&ES provides quality services, promotes excellence and seeks to shape the commercial environment in which its members operate through representation and leadership. It provides technical support services tailored to particular industry specialisms which include: ductwork, heating and plumbing services, refrigeration and air conditioning, and service and facilities.
Its members are subject to regular, third-party inspection and assessment to ensure technical and commercial competence.
Structure
The B&ES is a member of the Specialist Engineering Contractors Group (SEC Group), which is represented on the Strategic Forum for Construction; it also represents the views of its members on the UK Contractors Group.
Internationally, the B&ES is a member of GCI-UICP, the European umbrella body for the HVACR and plumbing sectors, and of CEETB, which represents all engineering specialists in construction.[1]
Its headquarters is situated off Bayswater Road (A402), opposite Kensington Gardens and near Bayswater tube station. It is in the City of Westminster, close to the boundary with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
