Buddy Hield (born December 17, 1993)[1] is a Bahamian college basketball player who currently plays for the Oklahoma Sooners. He most notably won the Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year in 2015 and at the press conference explained this was all part of a bigger plan as Hield was named after the dog in the movie Air Bud. The movie was his mom's favorite and came out several years prior to his birth.[1][2]
A 6'4 guard, Hield averaged 17.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game as a junior and shot 41 percent from the field. He led Oklahoma to a 24-11 record and Sweet 16 berth. Despite being a potential 2015 NBA Draft selection, he decided to return for his senior season.[3]
