Budal is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. It encompassed the Bua and Ena river valleys in the south-central part of the present-day municipality of Midtre Gauldal. The administrative center of Budal was the village of Enodden where the Budal Church was also located.[1]

History

Budal was established as a municipality in 1879 when it was separated from the municipality of Støren (see formannskapsdistrikt). Initially, Budal had a population of 585. On 1 January 1964, Budal was merged with the municipalities of Singsås, Soknedal, and Støren to form the new municipality of Midtre Gauldal. Before the merger, Budal had a population of 529.[2]
