Bruno Ricardo Mendonça de Caires (born 2 April 1976) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a defensive midfielder.
Club career
A product of Benfica youth system, Caires was iniatially loaned to Belenenses in his first year as senior. He returned in 1995, and had his breakthrough season, appearing in 16 league games.[1][2]
In 1997, he moved to Celta de Vigo, after the 'Spaniards' offered €3,5 million for him. His spell in Spain was plagued by injuries, which included a passage per Tenerife. In 2000, he returned to Portugal, signing for Sporting but only appearing for their B-team.[3] He was later loaned to Maia and Sp. Covilhã, moving on a permanent deal to Louletano where it ended his career, age 29.
