Bruce Dunlap

Bruce Dunlap is an American jazz guitarist and music promoter living in Santa Fe, New Mexico.[1][2] He manages the GiG Performance Space on Second Street there.

Early life and education

Starting at age thirteen, Dunlap studied jazz music theory and composition at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.[1]

Career

Dunlap moved to New York City when he was twenty. He worked for the American Broadcasting Company, composing music for soap operas, including All My Children, One Life to Live, and Ryan's Hope.[1] He also recorded and toured with other musicians including Bob James, Mel Lewis, Airto Moreira, Earl Klugh, Harvey Mason, and Bob Brookmeyer.[1]

In 1983, he featured as a soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles.[1]

In 1991, Dunlap signed with Chesky Records.[1]

Festivals and other venues

Dunlap moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1984.[1] He was for a time responsible for the Jazz and International Music Festival, but since founding the GiG Performance Space in Santa Fe, New Mexico, he focuses on promoting informal concerts at the small venue on Second Street.[3]
