Brown L. Whatley
Brown L. Whatley was a former real estate developer in Florida, chairman of Arvida Corp., and president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America.
Early life
Brown L. Whatley attended Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Georgia. He was a student at the University of Georgia in the 1920s, where he became a member of the Delta Chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Career
Whatley was an original partner of Stockton, Whatley, Davin & Co. out of Jacksonville, Florida. They formed Florida's largest real estate and mortgage banking firm.[1] In 1964 they were acquired by the General American Oil Company.
Whatley was chairman of Florida Real Estate developer Arvida Corp. during the 1960s, and was the former president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America.[2]
