The brook floater, Alasmidonta varicosa, is a species of freshwater mussel, an aquatic bivalve mollusk in the family Unionidae, the river mussels.
Distribution
This species is found in Canada (New Brunswick and Nova Scotia)[1] and the United States.
Habitat
This mussel lives in high relief streams, under boulders and in sand.
Survival threats
The Brook Floater is sensitive to sedimentation, flow alteration, and low oxygen conditions.
