Brit + Co. is an online DIY community/e-commerce company based in San Francisco. The company operates a Web site, Brit.co, which aims to be a content crossroads of technology and DIY projects.[1] In addition to its own content, the site often features crafts, recipes, and product inventions from 25 crafting and style sites.[1] Brit + Co. “shows you how to make or where to find everything you see” (Business Insider).[2] Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer is among Brit + Co.’s investors.[1]
Brit + Co. was founded in late 2011 by Brit Morin, who has been described as Silicon Valley's "geek-chic answer to Martha Stewart.”[3] Morin is currently the CEO of the privately held company, which has 16 full-time employees.
Features
In late 2012, Brit + Co. launched Brit Kits, a subscription-based service that every month delivers DIY project kits.[4] Another feature, Brit Picks, highlights posts from dozens of food, craft and style sites.[1] The company also developed Brit + Co. apps for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone[5] and launched a wedding planning Web site and Facebook app, Weduary.[6]

Funding
Brit + Co. is a venture capitalist-backed site. The company raised $1.25 million in seed funding in April 2012 from investors that included Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, Tina Sharkey (former chairman of BabyCenter and co-founder of iVillage), Index Ventures, Founders Fund, General Catalyst Partners, DMGT, Cowboy Ventures, as well as several private angel investors.[1][12][6]
