Bristeil is an independent band, which playing in indie rock style, although they call their music style as intelligent rock[1] and located in Minsk, Belarus.[2] The band sings euphonic rock songs in the Belarusian language.[3] The band was formed in 2013 year by frontman Hair Peace Salon band Aleh Vial, which considered as one of the best rock performers in Belarus.[4] They released their debut EP, Cyruĺnia Svietu (Barbershop of the World into English), on 26 May 2014.[5]

History

Hair Peace Salon background

Roots of Bristeil grow to Hair Peace Salon band. This band was formed in 1998 year and had some success story with self-final place of Global Battle of the Bands in 2007 year and participations in more music festivals.[6] There was a band, which had over 10 years on indie-rock and power-pop Belarusian scene with mostly English language songs.[7] They released a full leigh album Gentleman in 2012 and a lot of singles and EPs during of all times.[8][9] Since last LP release Hair Peace Salon was some inactive on the music stage and in 2013 year their frontman Aleh Vial decided to make his music further. He paused Hair Peace Salon music chapter to make herself music in a new project.[10] Hair Peace Salon band drummer Alex Stepanovich formed the new band with Aleh Vial too.[1]

Bristeil

On the end of 2013 two others members joined to Bristeil: bass player Gena Lukashanets and lead guitarist Max Bykau.[1] The band was completed. On 3 December 2013 the band released their first single "Heta Mahčyma" ("It’s Possible" in English) on Soundcloud that was a part of future debut EP.[10] There was they first music release, which Bristeil announced new Belarusian maxi-single that will be coming out on the spring 2014.[11]

The debut EP Cyruĺnia Svietu was released on 26 May 2014.[5] For this EP Bristeil wrote four Belarusian tracks, two of which are covers: the Lana Del Rey hit song "Video Games" and Hair Peace Salon's song "Out of Time".[12] This release was denoted the end of previous music phase and birth the new music stage of the band.[13]

On 21 September 2014 Bristeil released their first video single called "Muzyka Hučyć" ("Music Sounds" in English).[14] On the start of October this video was rereleased to main version.[15] Bristeil made this music video based on a live session footage of the "Unfinished Song" to Tricky’s contest, which frontman Aleh Vial won a year ago.[16]

The band’s music activities of 2014 were helped by receiving a nomination to «Opening of the Year» award by the biggest belarusian music portal Tuzin.fm.[17] The awards show was on 12 December 2014, on which Bristeil planned to perform, but in the last moment bassist Gena Lukashanets injured her finger. The band did not perform on the live show, but met with their fans on the awards show venue.[18] On the start 2015 Bristeil opened their official website.[19]

The name change

In the same time when the first music video was released the band changed its name. The band name "Bristol" was changed to "Bristeil". The band leader Aleh Vial told about it in a statement to Tuzin.fm music portal:

The band name is writing as «Bristeil» now. This correction we made only for practical reasons to make easier find us in the Web, but Bristeil is still a some definite place in which there it is good and music & soul are in him.[20]
