History

Bridon Ropes F.C. began as a factory team in 1935. It was formed from workers at the British Ropes Works in Charlton, London, and became known as British Ropes F.C.[2] In the beginning the club played in various minor local leagues until eventually joining the South London Amateur League, a few years later they started playing in the Greater London League which they left in 1975 to join the London Spartan League, still under the name of British Ropes, but in 1990 the factory changed its name to Bridon Ropes and the football club also changed its name to Bridon Sports F.C..[3] They then won Division Two of the Spartan League in 1991–92 and the London Junior Cup.[2] In 1992–93 the club changed its name to Bridon Ropes.[4]

In 1997–98 they became founder members of the Spartan South Midlands Football League Division One South, however they left the league the following season to become founder members of the London Intermediate League.[4] Bridon Ropes later joined the Kent County League Division One and were champions in the 2009–10 season, achieving promotion to the Premier Division.[2] In 2011–12 they became founder members of the Kent Invicta Football League.[4]

In April 2014, the club won the London Senior Trophy for the first time in their history, beating Corinthian Casuals 2–1 after extra time.
