Brian Volk-Weiss
Brian Volk-Weiss (born May 28, 1976 in Queens, New York) is The President of Production at New Wave Entertainment, running their production, development, management, distribution, and music departments. New Wave is currently the largest producer and distributor of 1 hour comedy specials in the United States (Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Katt Williams, Chelsea Peretti, Craig Ferguson, Bill Burr, Dennis Miller, etc) has four TV shows (It Takes A Sister on Oxygen, StevieTV on VH1, Forever Jones on BounceTV, and Hogs and Hammers on History Channel) on the air, and 5 pilots in production, including the scripted drama The Novice for USA Network. In November 2013, Brian spearheaded the development and production of NWE's first feature film; Redstone (horror), and in December, two albums he produced (Craig Ferguson and Bob Saget) were nominated for Grammy Awards.
Background
Volk-Weiss has overseen the New Wave Entertainment-produced TV series StevieTV, which aired on VH1, as well as Comcast Bounce's "Forever Jones", and "Naked But Funny" for FOX. Volk-Weiss also produced Dane Cook's Concert Special:Isolated Incident on Comedy Central as well as all of Cook's movies Employee of the Month, Good Luck Chuck (starring Cook and Jessica Alba), and My Best Friend's Girl (2008) as well as produced all five of Cook's albums, two of which went double platinum and one went gold. Currently in post production is 'Buying For Billionaires' for E! which airs on 12/26/13.
In the past he's produced The Next Best Thing for ABC, Vicious Circle and "Tourgasm" for HBO, U.S. of ANT for MTV,
The Ron White Show for Comedy Central and Long Distance Relationship for Sony TV. In December 2009, Variety's "Dealmakers That Are Up Next" special profiled Volk-Weiss and nine other Hollywood executives.[1]
Volk-Weiss is currently overseeing production of LOGO's "Skin Deep", MTV2's "Crash Test Dummies", VH1's StevieTV, Discovery ID's "True Grime: Crime Scene Cleaners", pilots for MTV, VH1, Sundance Channel, CMT, WEtv, and History Chanel as well as multiple one hour comedy specials for HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and Netflix, including Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Katt Williams, Dennis Miller, Bill Burr, DL Hughley, Tom Papa, Jim Norton, Kevin Nealon, and Craig Furguson.
Volk-Weiss graduated from the University of Iowa in 1998 and in 2012 published his first work of fiction, 'Roman and Julia', with co-author Ian Roumain. In the same year they produced "That Guy...Who Was In That Thing," a feature length documentary about working actors that premiered on Showtime in October 2012. Two sequels are currently in production, 'That Gal' and 'Trek Guy," both for Showtime, which are scheduled to premiere in 2014.
In November of 2012, Brian was picked by Daily Variety as part of its Impact Report in the "Tube Titans" section that recognizes major contributors to comedic television production.
