Brayton Grist Mill is an historic grist mill on US 44 in Pomfret, Connecticut. The mill was built in 1890 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The mill is located along Mashamoquet Brook, at the entrance to Mashamoquet Brook State Park,[2] and features its original equipment and a collection of blacksmithing tools and equipment.[3] The mill is operated by the Pomfret Historical Society, and is open by appointment.[4] It is a multi-story post-and-beam structure, built c. 1890 from materials salvaged from older mills that were on the site. It is the last surviving mill of several that are known to have lined Mashamoquet Brook in the area.[5]
