Brainards is an unincorporated community and census designated place (CDP) located within Harmony Township, in Warren County, New Jersey, United States, that was created as part of the 2010 United States Census.[7][8][9] As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP's population was 202.[3] It was formerly known as Martin's Creek.[10]
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP had a total area of 0.184 square miles (0.476 km2), all of which was land.[1][11]
Demographics

At the 2010 United States Census, there were 202 people, 73 households, and 55.99 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,099.0 per square mile (424.3/km2). There were 79 housing units at an average density of 429.8 per square mile (165.9/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.54% (193) White, 2.97% (6) Black or African American, 0.99% (2) Native American, 0.50% (1) Asian, 0.00% (0) Pacific Islander, 0.00% (0) from other races, and 0.00% (0) from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 2.48% (5) of the population.[3]
There were 73 households, of which 39.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% were married couples living together, 17.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.3% were non-families. 17.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.11.[3]
In the CDP, 25.2% of the population were under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 29.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40.0 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males.[3]
