Bradley Stoke Community School is a mixed gender Secondary Academy, located in Bradley Stoke, South Gloucestershire, England, on the outskirts of Bristol. As of January 2012 the school has 1,120 students aged 11 to 18.[1]

History

The construction of BSCS was completed in July 2005 and the school opened in September to accommodate the year 7 pupils. In 2008, the school was awarded specialist status in Performing Arts. The school was rated outstanding by the Ofsted inspection in November 2009.[2]

In January 2012, the school converted to an academy. The school's name remained the same, but the academy trust was named the Olympus Academy Trust after the Rolls-Royce Olympus jet engine which powered Concorde.[3] The academy is part of the Concorde Partnership, a collaboration between South Gloucestershire and Stroud College and nine schools in South Gloucestershire which share resources and courses.[4]

In January 2013 Abbeywood Community School converted to academy status as part of the Olympus Academy Trust.

Academic achievement

The school has improved its results between 2010 and 2011 and achieved its best ever GCSE scores in 2011, however, results from the 2012 cohort decreased significantly. The table below shows the percentage of students hitting the key measure of 5 A*-C including English and Mathematics.[5]
