Booth University College is a liberal arts university college affiliated with the Salvation Army, a Christian organization presently operating in more than 125 countries. Booth University College is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

History

Booth University College was established in 1982 as Catherine Booth Bible College. It was renamed William and Catherine Booth College in 1997 in honour of The Salvation Army's cofounders, William Booth and Catherine Booth. On June 17, 2010 the college officially became Booth University College. The current president of Booth University College is Donald E. Burke, who has been associated with the college since its founding. Over 200 students are enrolled at the Winnipeg Campus (September to April), and hundreds more take courses through Booth UC's spring, summer, and distance education programs.

Facilities

Booth University College is located in downtown Winnipeg at 447 Webb Place and 290 Vaughan Street.

The University College's John Fairbank Memorial Library is located at the 290 Vaughan Street campus, which is just a three minute walk from the main campus at Webb Place. The library has over 55,000 books as well as a subscription to 115,000 ebooks.

A state-of-the-art facility for Booth's growing business degree program is set to open in January 2015 at the Vaughan Street campus.

The Webb Place campus is home to the Centre for Salvation Army Studies, which aims to promote high quality research on the organization's history, beliefs and practices around the globe. The Centre houses a growing collection of rare Salvation Army books, pamphlets, reports and periodicals. It augments the holdings of the John Fairbank Memorial Library, which has its own extensive collection of books and periodicals on the Army. With approximately 2500 resources on or by the Salvation Army, Booth University College is becoming a significant hub for the serious researcher of the Salvation Army.
