Robert 'Bob' Kakaha, also known as Bobzilla (born March 5, 1970 in Los Angeles) is an American bassist best known as the former bassist for heavy metal band Damageplan and heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah.[1]

Life and career

Kakaha met Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott through tattooing.

He was raised in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. He now is a resident of Dallas, Texas where he played with the rap rock band Hellafied Funk Crew and the Horror Rock band Shadow Reichenstein, and Vanilla Ice.

Damageplan

In 2003, The Abbott Brothers formed the heavy metal band Damageplan, after Pantera's breakup. Kakaha played bass, and former Halford guitarist Patrick Lachman on vocals. Damageplan recorded one album, New Found Power, which was released in February 2004. On December 8, 2004, Dimebag Darrell was shot onstage by former US marine named Nathan Gale in Damageplan's tour at Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. Damageplan was split up after the death of Dimebag Darrell.

Hellyeah

Main article: Hellyeah

Kakaha joined Hellyeah after Jerry Montano was dismissed from the band for violent behavior. Kakaha was brought in to play bass guitar on tour for all of 2007.

On February 13, 2014, it was announced that Kakaha had parted ways with the band.[2]

Orphaned to Hatred

Recently, Bobzilla shot 2 videos with Orphaned To Hatred. "Each video is directed by OTH vocalist McBride and will feature a special guest appearance by Hellyeah bassist Bob Zilla!" "Bob Zilla was at Dimebag's side that devastating night of December 8, 2004 when, his friend and band mate Dimebag Darrell Abbott was suddenly and cowardly shot down in cold blood. He joined Orphaned to Hatred to silence harsh critics who feel the band is nothing more than a Rip Off and to validate the only true successor to the legacy Dimebag's Pantera left behind." -Metalmann
