BlueBean is a privately held radio frequency identification (RFID) company.
History
The company was created in 2004 when the RFID division of MagTech Systems [1] was spun off to focus exclusively on the emerging RFID market.
The company focused exclusively on RFID consulting and systems integration. Their services [2] include feasibility studies, scope and scale studies, and design and integration services. Some of their clients include General Electric Aviation,[3] U.S. Navy, Meijer, and Paramount Farms.[4]
In 2005, it acquired RFIDSupplyChain.com, an online store that offers ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID equipment and solutions.[5] This acquisition allowed them to offer a complete solution, from procurement and design to installation and support.
In 2008, the company conducted a clinical study on the effects of passive UHF RFID systems on medical equipment in partnership with Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI).[6] The study concluded that there were no issues with electromagnetic interference (EMI). IUPUI researchers at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana conducted the clinical study.
Continuing in 2008, the company also launched its marketing channel with the site, RFIDTags.com, to allow RFID tag manufacturers to reach potential customers using search engines to find information on RFID tags. In 2010, RFIDReader.com and RFIDAntenna.com were also launched.
