Black Mountain is a small rural residential locality in Queensland, Australia. It is within the local government area of Shire of Noosa (between 2008 and 2013 it was within Sunshine Coast Region).
Geography
Located inland from Cooroy and Pomona, it affords magnificent views of the surrounding area. The suburb was officially named on 5 June 1998 after a prominent feature of the area - the high point upon which sits a number of communication towers serving the Noosa Hinterland. The local population grew by 132 between the 2006 and 2011 census and now stands at 582 men and 593 women (1175 total). Black Mountain is home to several boutique rural enterprises and artists' studios.
Transport
With the planned extension of the Bruce Highway, built to a freeway standard, Black Mountain, Pomona and nearby Federal will be linked by continuous four-lanes to Brisbane, the Queensland state capital.
