"Black Diamond" is a song by the Bee Gees and was released on the album Odessa in 1969.[1] this song was written by Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb Lead and harmony vocals by Robin Gibb. It was included on the compilation Marley Purt Drive released in 1970.[2]
On the very start of the song, it features that Robin sings high, with Barry and Maurice's guitars: Where are you?, I love you, Where are you?, I love you, Where are you to keep me warm.
Recording
This track was the first song recorded when they back to England, and was the first song without Vince Melouney's participation, It was recorded two times, the first version ended to 4:00 was released on Sketches for Odessa in 2006.[3] and the second version was released on the album, On the intro it features a guitar played by Maurice, and the orchestral arrangement by Bill Shepherd, On its demo version it was only performed by Robin (on lead vocals, piano and mellotron.) Maurice (on bass, piano, guitar and mellotron.) and Colin (on drums.)[4]
The demo, accompanied by Maurice's piano is joining Colin's drumming on the first chorus. The beginning of the song, similar but there are some vastly different lyrics in the verses.[5]
