Birchfield Ladbroke Stadium
The Birchfield Ladbroke Stadium, also known as the old Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium was a former greyhound racing track in Birchfield in the north of Birmingham, England.[1]
The track opened in 1928 during the boom of greyhound tracks being built. It was purchased by Ladbrokes in 1976 and renamed the Birchfield Ladbroke Stadium.
After a fire in June 1970 the main stand was rebuilt with restaurant and bar facilities with further improvements taking place in 1976 after the Ladbrokes takeover.
The track hosted the Birmingham Cup and was the first provincial track to install automatic ray starting and timing (photo finish equipment).
Racing used to take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
In 1984 developers bought the stadium and it was demolished. Greyhound racing resumed in 1990 at the nearby Perry Barr Stadium.
