Biometric device

A Biometric device is a security identification and authentication device. Such devices measure unique physical characteristics (biometrics), such as fingerprints, facial image, iris print or voice of a human being to establish their unique identity. They provide access control to security sensitive areas such as computer systems and other security restricted areas.[1]

Biometric devices include fingerprint readers, facial recognition systems, hand geometry systems, voice verification systems, signature verification systems. [2]

Personal Signature Verification Systems

Hand written signature verification systems typically include an electronic pad for signing and software for a computer to analyze the data from the pad.

There are several methods for verifying hand written signatures. The dominant method employs feature extraction. Features may include velocity, height, width, pressure, acceleration, width to height ratio, strokes, and average pressure.[3]
