Bimal Kumar Roy

Bimal Kumar Roy Bengali: বিমল কুমার রায় is the current Director of the Indian Statistical Institute. He is a renowned cryptologist from the Cryptology Research Group of the Applied Statistics Unit of ISI, Kolkata.[1] He received a Ph.D. in Combinatorics and Optimization in 1982 from the University of Waterloo.[2] Currently he is working on Combinatorics, and application of Statistics in Cryptology and Design of Experiments.[3] In 2015, Prof Roy was awarded Padma Shri, one of the highest honors bestowed by India on a person, recognizing his accomplishments and contribution to education.[4] Bimal Roy graduated High-School in 1974 having received his education at the renowned Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur.
