Bill Hudson (guitarist)

Bill Hudson, born on July 13, 1983 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, is a heavy metal guitarist. He moved to the United States during the year of 2005 in order to join the Nebraskan power metal band Cellador, playing on their debut album Enter Deception and remaining in their line-up until early 2008. Joining Avian a band started by Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and vocalist Lance King for one album and several live performances in 2007 and 2008 after which, Hudson did a lot of touring and recording with different bands such as UK's Power Quest, Zachary Stevens's Circle II Circle and Nightrage. Hudson has done guest guitar solos for several rock bands as well.

He's currently working on new material for a project named Stardust Reverie.

Early life and education

Hudson started playing guitar at the age of twelve, mainly influenced by Slash. His first teacher was Angra guitarist Kiko Loureiro.

A few years later, He attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA and has been mentioned among the success stories on their website several times.

Playing career

He is known for a studio project called The Supremacy. The project features well-known European musicians, such as drummer Mark Cross (exFirewind and exHelloween), as well as keyboard player Joost Van den Broek, of After Forever, Ayreon, Star One, among others. This project has not done much other than the recording of two songs in 2004.

In 2005, Hudson auditioned for German Power metal band Freedom Call, after being referred by longtime friend Cede Dupont, who had just quit said band. However, his "big" break did not come until later that same year, when in he auditioned for and joined American Power metal band Cellador, on Metal Blade Records.

He was the artist to present the Betcha Can't Play This section of Guitar World magazine, on its July 2007 issue. He is also preparing his own instructional DVD on world class vibrato - influenced by his number 1 idol Kirk Hammett, which should come out sometime in 2012 and it is tentatively titled "Vibrato of Doom", according to his Facebook page.

In December, 2007 Steve Williams from Power Quest announced that Bill Hudson will be providing guest instrumentation on the track "The Vigil" for the upcoming album "Master of Illusion".[1]

In January, 2008 Hudson announced his departure from Cellador.

In June, 2008 in a press release from UK based melodic power metal band Power Quest announced that Bill Hudson had joined as joint lead guitarist alongside Andrea Martongelli.[2] Bill had to leave the band 10 months later with band member Steve Williams citing Bill's current location and costs as practical problems for the band.[3]

After leaving Power Quest, Hudson joined longtime idol Zak Stevens of Savatage and Trans-Siberian Orchestra fame in his band Circle II Circle. They toured Europe and the US between 2008 and 2009. Hudson left the band in 2009 for reasons unknown.

Recently, he has joined Swedish death metal legends Nightrage during their "Frets of Fury" US tour, alongside Firewind, Arsis and White Wizzard.

2013: Now a member of the Omaha based band, Emphatic, on Epochal Artists Records. new album Another Life available Sept 17th.

2014: Bill joins the international supergroup Stardust Reverie (Graham Bonnet, Zak Stevens, Lynn Meredith, Zuberoa Aznarez & Melissa Ferlaak) and the álbum Ancient Rites of the Moon sees the light. His stunning guitar sólo in the tune Song for Catina is highly praised by the media worldwide.

Soon after Jon Oliva (Savatage) recruits him for his solo project Jon Oliva´s Pain.
