Big Knockout Boxing (BKB) is a combat sport brand developed and owned by DirecTV.[1][2][3][4] The sport is similar to boxing but does not use a ring, ropes, corners and three minute rounds.[2] Bruce Binkow serves as BKB’s executive director.[5][6]
History
BKB was created by a group of experienced members of the fight industry.[7] In 2013, the sport debuted with two events in New Hampshire.[5] The Nevada Athletic Commission sanctioned BKB in March 2014.[8] In August 2014, BKB debuted with a pay-per-view card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas with approximately 4,500 attendees.[3][9][10] Bryan Vera and Gabriel Rosado fought for the middleweight title.[11][12] Rosado defeated Vera by the fifth round and won the title.[13] Additionally, Anthony Johnson fought Dimar Ortuz for the Cruiserweight title and Eddie Caminero faced David Estrada for the Junior Middleweight title.[8] For the event, fighters wore traditional boxing gloves.[5] In December 2014, BKB signed multi-fight agreements with Gabe Duluc, Javier Garcia, Herbert Acevedo, Khurshid Abdullaev and Anthony Johnson.[14]

Rules
The pit
BKB is contested in a 17 foot diameter circular surface known as a "the pit".[5][6] The pit's area is approximately half the size of a conventional boxing ring. The small fighting surface is aimed to make fighters confront one another.[7] Referees can deduct one point from a fighter if they intentionally step outside of the pit, that is enclosed by a raised padded area instead of rope.[3]
Rounds
Title bouts consist of seven two-minute rounds and non-title bouts are five.[11]
Attire
Fighters wear conventional boxing gloves.[15] BKB developed an in-glove microchip technology that provides viewers with stats including,a punch’s speed and the pounds of force delivered by the punch.[10][13]
