Bhesa ceylanica is a species of plant in the Centroplacaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
spiral, oval to lanceolate, base rounded, acute, often twisted apex, lateral veins 12-15, parallel, curved.
Trunk
Bark - smooth, thick, dark gray; Wood- pale yellowish brown, heavy.
Flowers
irrugularly ovoid, blunt, red, glabrous capsule.
Site
rain forest canopy.
Uses
Wood - heavy construction, furniture.
Culture
known as පෙලන් (pelang) in Sinhala.
