Between is a Canadian science fiction-drama television and web series, slated to debut in 2015 on City and Netflix. Created by Michael McGowan, the series will star Jennette McCurdy as Wiley Day, a pregnant teenage daughter of a minister living in the small town of Pretty Lake, which is coping with a mysterious disease which has killed everybody over the age of 21.[1][2]

The cast also includes Jesse Carere, Jack Murray, Justin Kelly, Krystal Nausbaum, Brooke Palsson, Jim Watson, Wesley Morgan, Michael Reventar, Kyle Mac, Ryan Allen and Michael Boisvert.

The series is currently set for a season of six one-hour episodes. It is being co-produced and financed by City and Netflix as part of a collaboration deal. The series represents the first major television solo starring role for McCurdy. Production of the series began on October 20, 2014. City aired an exclusive preview of the series during their broadcast of the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. The series is set to premiere on May 21, 2015.[3]

Episodes will air on a week by week basis on first on City Thursday's at 8pm Eastern then Netflix for international viewing at 9pm Eastern.[4]

In addition to the show itself a Web series called Between Video Yearbook will be available online featuring eight, two-minute episodes which will follow the character Amanda, who is on assignment for the school’s yearbook and interviews students at Pretty Lake. The series will begin pre-outbreak, and continue throughout the quarantine and ensuing chaos, taking an in-depth look at a different character each week. The first episode of the web series will premiere on May 18, with new episodes premiering post broadcast on City every week on Citytv.com. [5]


Distribution

Per the collaboration deal, the series will air terrestrially on City,[6] with streaming on Shomi in Canada and Netflix internationally.[7] It will be the first series originating from Canada to air on Netflix. [6]

It will be added to Netflix's Canadian service one year after its Shomi debut.[7]
