Beth Schacter

Beth Schacter is an American film director, screenwriter and journalist. She is best known for her debut feature, Normal Adolescent Behavior which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007. Schacter studied screenwriting at Columbia University where she was a Film Foundation Scholar and Hearst Award winner. She graduated with an MFA.

Career

She was a writer on the critically acclaimed "Bunheads" and she co-wrote the feature film Forget Me Nots for Emerging Pictures and director Ann Hu. It premiered at the 2005 LA Film Festival and starred Vivian Wu.

She wrote and directed Normal Adolescent Behavior for New Line Cinemas in 2006. The film stars Amber Tamblyn and Kelli Garner and was released in 2007. Ain't It Cool News, in an early review, said of the film: It’s got something to say. It’s got real weight. This isn’t just some teen romance... Every thing is handled with a delicate touch and that’s a testament to Schacter’s sensibilities. As debut films go, this is one to be proud of.[1] The film premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.

As a journalist her work has been seen in Radar Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter and Latina Magazine.
