Beryl Fletcher
Beryl Fletcher (born 1938) is a New Zealand novelist. Her first novel, The Word Burners won the 1992 Commonwealth Writers' Prize, Best First Book, Asia/Pacific region.
She graduated from the University of Waikato with a Masters Degree in Sociology in 1979. She was resident at the University of Iowa, International Writing Program. In 1999, she was Writer in Residence at Waikato University. In 2005, she was a Ledig House International Writers’ Resident.[1] In 2006, she was Writer in Residence at the Randell Cottage.[2]
