Bernardino Piñera

Bernardino Piñera Carvallo (born September 22, 1915) is a Chilean prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was born in Paris, France. He was ordained priest on April 5, 1947. At the age of 99 he is the oldest Catholic bishop of South America.

He was ordained a priest in 1947. In 1958, Pope Pius XII appointed him auxiliary bishop of Talca. Later, Piñera Carvallo has worked in the positions of the Bishop of Temuco (1960–1977) and Archbishop of La Serena (1983–1990). He attended the Second Vatican Council from 1962 until 1965. He is the paternal uncle of Chile's president, Sebastián Piñera
