Bergen Regional Medical Center is an acute and long term care hospital located in Paramus, New Jersey, USA. The hospital campus also consists of a nursing home and a mental health facility and was known for many years as Bergen Pines County Hospital. The hospital is most known for its whistleblower lawsuit filed by nurse Mary Louise Doyle citing abuse allegations in the children's psychiatric unit. Excessive use of physical restraints as well as child molestation allegations were cited. In the adult ward, numerous complaints and allegations surfaced including an anonymous report in which one girl was almost paralyzed by staff members during a forced drugging. [1]

Bergen Regional Medical Center is the largest hospital in the state of New Jersey, sitting on 68 acres of land in Paramus and consisting of over 1,000 beds. It also has a reputation as being a hospital with a large amount of charity care patients. Despite numerous abuse allegations, the hospital remains open today.
