Belize Audubon Society

The Belize Audubon Society is a non-governmental conservation organisation founded in 1969 to encourage and develop conservation initiatives in Belize.[1] It currently manages nine of the country's protected areas in partnership with the Belizean government.[2] Among the founding members was Albert Staine, at that point Director of Public Prosecutions, who would later become Chief Justice of Belize.[3] The Belize Audubon Society gives out the James A. Waight Award each year. Past recipients include former Chief Justice George Brown.[4]
