Behindwoods is an Indian news, information and entertainment website. It was founded on 28 October 2003 by Nian Info Solutions, and is headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It has another office at Portsmouth, New Hampshire in the United States.[2] The website provides news related to Indian film industry, particularly news, film and soundtrack album reviews and box office reports related to Tamil Cinema.[1]
Its current ranking in India on Alexa Internet is 569, with a global ranking of 5,802. About 7.00% of the people visit this site from search engines.[2]
The number of employees are up to 50 people.[3]
The website, in association with The Times of India, promoted the Rajinikanth starrer Enthiran (2010) through advertisements.[4] It also opened online forums and Q&A (Questions and Answers) sections related to the film.[5]
In July 2013, The Hindu included the website in its list of favoured apps for film-goers.[6]
The Behindwoods Film Festival aired on Kalaignar TV.[7][8] Behindwoods also tied with 7th Heaven Productions to produce the short film Ippadiyum Lock Aagalam.[9] They also first released singer G. Shyam Sunder's debut album Everyone loves parotta.[10]
